Jake Yapp (Zebulon Simentov)

Jake Yapp is a comedy performer, musician and writer. As well as stand-up comedy, he spent three years making sketches for the BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show; was a regular writer for three series of BBC2’s Never Mind the Buzzcocks; and wrote, performed and directed Z for Fake for BBC2 and TV Offal for Channel 4.

 

His characters have made regular appearances on BBC Radio, most notably Dora Dale, a nonagenarian with an intimate knowledge of pretty much everyone in show business. He wrote and performed a series for BBC Radio 4Extra as Dora Dale called Pleased to Meet You, which was nominated for the Sony Radio Award for Best Comedy. His YouTube short Radio 4 in 4 Minutes became a viral sensation. 

Nowadays he is a regular contributor to www.thepoke.co.uk, one of Britain’s top three comedy websites. His videos and TV reviews have garnered over a quarter of a million hits on YouTube. Jake is also sort of the voice of Dave (the TV channel) providing various shouty voice overs.

His recent TV appearances include 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe, where he performs his own material, talking about TV and that.

Jake currently presents the Sunday morning breakfast show n TalkRadio in the UK.
